Worthless Worship
In this message, Pastor Steven Nolen preaches from Luke 19 and exposes the danger of worship that looks right outwardly but is empty at the heart level. As Jesus entered Jerusalem, the crowd praised Him, celebrated Him, and welcomed Him like a king, yet many of them were responding to their own expectations rather than to who He truly was. They wanted freedom from Rome, earthly relief, and a king who would move according to their desires, but Jesus came bringing something far deeper: repentance, reconciliation, and peace with God through His blood.
This message presses on the sobering truth that people can sing, shout, gather, and celebrate Jesus while still missing His heart completely. Pastor Steven walks through the triumphal entry, the prophetic weight of that moment, and the grief of Christ as He wept over Jerusalem. Their praise was loud, but their hearts were not surrendered. Their worship was visible, but it was not aligned with the kingdom He came to establish.
This message challenges believers to ask:
Is my worship rooted in who Jesus is, or only in what I want Him to do for me?
Am I following Christ because He is worthy, or because of what I think I can get from Him?
Could my praise be outwardly passionate, but inwardly disconnected from surrender?
And is my worship truly pleasing to the Lord?
This sermon is for the one who needs their heart searched, their motives exposed, and their view of Jesus brought back into alignment. Jesus did not come just to fix temporary earthly problems. He came to make peace between sinful man and a holy God. On Palm Sunday, Pastor Steven calls the church to move beyond shallow praise and into real worship grounded in the cross, the blood of Jesus, and full surrender to His kingdom.
